COSBY GOLF CLUB
Site Visit: Tuesday 24th June 2025
Twenty people from a good selection of Leicestershire golf clubs attended the site visit to Cosby GC.
Club manager Will Bevan gave an excellent introduction to all that has been happening at Cosby in sustainability terms in recent years. His talk was based on the Cosby GC Ecology and Sustainability Roadmap, which is available to see and download here.
During the talk and the walk around the course Will was assisted by club member Jim Oswald, whose expertise in energy conservation has been put to good use in recent times at the club. (Jim will be featuring at the next greener golf conference at Ullesthorpe in February 2026.) Also helping Will was club member Chris Hanning, whose particular passion is bee-keeping, and who showed us the hives on the course as well as encouraging us to buy the produce!
In addition to representatives from the clubs, we welcomed Alex Jenks and Danny Kelliher from the Forestry Commission. Danny gave a short introduction to the services and support that the Forestry Commission can offer landowners, including golf clubs. (Again, please see the website for further details.)
This was the fourth such site visit, and we hope to do another in 2026.
