KIRSTIN MCEVOY VISITS HINCKLEY GC

19th August 2026

As part of a flying visit to the midlands on 19th August, Kirstin McEvoy (England Golf’s Head of Sustainability) squeezed in a visit to Hinckley GC. The choice of Hinckley GC was suggested by the GG Network to acknowledge the work being done there. Volunteer and Ecology group Leader Helen Buckingham has been the driving force at the club in recent years. She has had good support across the club. Hinckley GC is a member of the Nature Recovery project with the Wildlife Trust.

Helen writes:

“First she met course manager Adam, assistant greenkeeper James, club manager Helen Wilebore and myself for a short meeting where we discussed coping with the drought and water shortage and how she could help us with a tree planting programme.

We then toured the course in buggies and showed Kirstin some of our initiatives. We concentrated mostly  on the numerous ponds and our efforts to look after our protected species of water vole and great created newt.

A short follow up discussion took place where Kirstin promised to send us some contact details and follow up material to help us with our tree management programme.”
