Launch of Warwickshire Greener Golf Forum
Shirley Golf Club was the venue for the launch of the Warwickshire Greener Golf Forum on 16th July 2024.
The meeting was organised by Wenke Langhofs-Gold and Denise Delahunty, both playing members and volunteers at Shirley GC. Wenke and Denise had both attended conferences and/or seminars organised in the Leicestershire area over the last couple of years and decided to set up a group in the Warwickshire/Birmingham area.
There was an introduction to the network, and thought-provoking talks by Tony Hanson (Environmental Solutions International) and Phil Buck, the Course Manager at Copt Heath GC – a near neighbour to Shirley. Owen James, the England Golf Sustainability Manager also spoke and two wildlife trusts were also represented: Ian Jelley (Warwickshire WT) and Dave Green (Birmingham and Black Country WT).
