Site Visit to Beedles Lake GC

Wednesday 24th June 2026

Why a site visit to Beedles Lake Golf Club?

Beedles Lake is a relatively new course – opening in 1993 – with an interesting history. From a landfill site BLGC is now – with its Golf for Everyone ethos – at the heart of the local community. It currently hosts 35,000 rounds of golf per annum with a membership of 700.

Under the leadership of owner Robert Jelley, and club manager Jon Coleman, the club has shown innovation and commitment to sustainability and helping nature recovery. It is part of the developing LRWT partnership project with county golf clubs.

What will I find out?

This visit will give you the opportunity to find out how the course was initially conceived by local course architect David Tucker, and its development from a sparse landscape to a maturing parkland layout. The walk will include the courses, lake and clubhouse and give an opportunity to ask questions and make suggestions, as the club continues its journey, covering amongst other matters:

  • The progress towards the club’s carbon neutral targets
  • The challenging but fun Little Owl par-3 course suitable for golfers of all abilities
  • The magnificent 30-acre lake.

What is the itinerary?

  • 9.30 am – registration and tea/coffee (please bring a £3 cash donation)
  • 10.00 am – a short presentation outlining the history and achievements thus far
  • 10.20 (approx.) – a tour around the course and site.
  • 12.00 (approx.) – question/answer session aiming to end at 12.30 p.m.
