Site Visit to Cosby Golf Club
Tuesday 24th June 2025
Why a site visit to Cosby Golf Club?
Cosby Golf Club has a long history of having regard for nature and biodiversity. Tom Flavelle past head greenkeeper, was one of our first conference speakers (February 2022). His article on ‘Sustainable Greenkeeping’ is one of the top downloads from the GGN library.
With the arrival in 2023 of Club Manager, Will Bevan, the club has gone up several levels in its fundamental approach to climate change and the crisis in nature. To match the R&A and England Golf’s pledge, they anticipate that the will be carbon neutral by 2031.
What will I find out?
This visit will give you the opportunity to find out all that is being done at Cosby, a medium sized members’ club, driven by the ECOLOGY and SUSTAINABILITY ROAD MAP (available to download from the library section of the Greener Golf website). This includes:
- their approach to woodland management
- the use of natural products for club building works
- their water security initiatives
- projects to enhance biodiversity
- their approach to member engagement
What is the itinerary?
- 9.30 am – registration and tea/coffee (please bring a £3 cash donation)
- 10.00 am – a short presentation outlining the developments at the club,
- 10.20 (approx.) – a tour around the course and site.
