Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) Funding Seminar

Ullesthorpe Golf Club

Representatives from 12 golf clubs in Leicestershire and Rutland attended the seminar on BNG Funding opportunities at Ullesthorpe on May 19th.

Three of the managers at EMEC Ecology led the session, explaining what BNG Funding is, how the system will work, and what it might mean for golf clubs. Using a map of a small portion of the Ullesthorpe course as a visual example, the methodology of how it would be assessed was demonstrated and how plans might be set out for ‘biodiversity gain’. EMEC made clear how, as established environmental consultants, they had the expertise to make the assessments for clubs, and how much this would cost. Their secondary role might be to act as brokers between the clubs and potential developers.

There were a number of club managers and senior directors in the audience. The presentation was followed by extensive, serious questioning, and the audience clearly welcomed the direct, authoritative answers being provided.

For golf clubs wanting to find out more, please contact Ben Jones, Senior Project Manager, at EMEC Ecology. (07511 764 309) or via www.emec-ecology.co.uk, or follow the link on our website under LINKS.
